This year the firm will work with six fairs, as well as nine major music festivals from Seattle,to San Francisco to Las Vegas. In addition the company works with venues that host major pro and college sports teams to advise on how to increase patron spending. GF Strategies’ first two venues, the Oregon State Fair in Salem and the Deschutes Fair and Rodeo (Redmond, Oregon) proved Mr. Flakus’ system was invaluable. At the Oregon State Fair, food sales rose from $1.8 to $2.1 million in three years. With more than 53 major events using its analytics and tracking system, GFS has covered North America and some of the largest events in the United States for the past 23 years, including seven of the top ten attendance fairs in North America. Last year alone, GFS was able to work with all of its clients to keep food sales numbers growing, even with pricing at the same levels at many of the Fairs that are a part of company’s Fairs division. This past year the firm worked with some of the major festivals in the nation including Outside Lands in San Francisco, Life is Beautiful in Las Vegas, Bumbershoot in Seattle and an event that the firm founded 20 years ago.the Portland Oregon Winter Ale Festival. The company advised on the startup of a major brewers festival in Las Vegas in 2014 at the new Las Vegas Village grounds on the south Las Vegas strip, and continues to work with festivals on ways to realize more per person spending from attendees at venues from the Columbia Gorge in Washington to Houston Texas to San Diego California. “Our food and beverage sales continue to grow each year” said Clark County Fair manager John Morrison. “The gains we realize each year even when attendance does not rise are the direct result of GF Strategies work with us “ said Morrison. GF Strategies has worked every year since 1999 with this event. Success stories have not been limited to the Pacific Northwest. The firm has worked with clients from San Diego, California, to West Springfield, Massachusetts,Houston, Texas,Tulsa, Oklahoma and Boise Idaho. Flakus’ company has provided unique consulting expertise including that with the Tulsa Expo Square where new building and concession locations led to more food sales from less food stands. When Autzen Stadium, the football home for the University of Oregon underwent a major expansion, GF Strategies advised the Athletic Department on design, location and menu options for the new purchase locations. IN 2013 and 2014, the firm helped the South Carolina State fair realize all time record revenues.
